I remember clearly the disfigured faces I came across whilst traveling. The queer but captivating connection i had with each and every person i came across. An important question i deeply thought about was, what made us different and what made us similar. I recall the beginning of my exploration around the world in early 2018. I left home with a recurring thought that lingered within me throughout my travels.
I wanted to remember each face i met. Learn about them, and their story.
I managed to do so. And i want to tell you, how that has enriched my experience and brought me closer to acceptance, growth and getting to know deeper parts of myself.
in September 2018, I decided to join a kitesurfing academy that travels the world. I closely hold on to the fortune i had and have to have experienced this unforgettable journey. As i packed my bags to leave, i sat down for a moment, on the floor, and I profoundly thought about what i wanted the most out of this two year exploration. Very quickly, it came to me, that i loved meeting new people, and hearing their stories. I now openly believe, our connection to other people is the base of self exploration and growth. Sharing and exchanging snippets of my life to others, has brought me tremendous amounts of diverse perspectives, education, and supplements to the way i live my life.
The "faces" i wanted to remember, briskly became remarkable people i have exchanged something with. Regardless, of who they were, what they did for a living or how they looked, i truly learnt the beauty in exchanging the smallest amounts with new faces.
